| This outing combines the sailing along Lago Viedma with walks over the glacier of the same name as well as on the rocks that have until recently been covered by snow. Visitors will be able to obtain relevant information about the glaciers and their behaviour all along the excursion. Local guides, -specially trained to accomplish this-, will not only be in charge of keeping visitors safe but also of sharing important pieces of information about the area. Everybody will be able to enjoy incredible geological formations, watch the fall of glacier masses and discover ponds, cracks and caves while walking on the glaciers. |

07.00 am pick up from your hotel in El Chalten and transfer to Túnel bay.
-
08:00 Departure from Puerto Túnel bay(Pier) towards Glaciar Viedma. Situated in a sheltered natural bay some hundreds meters away from a unique delta, the small Puerto Túnel bay is only 17 kilometers from El Chalten.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the travel southwards on board the modern Huemul ship, with a capacity for 55 passengers, appreciating the bay view during the first fifteen minutes of the trip.
The lake depth allows for a smooth sailing near the coastline and the Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Huemul can therefore be fully appreciated.
Upon arrival to Cabo de Hornos (southeastern boundary of Campo Ventisqueros), the trip will turn westwards to suddenly be faced to the breathtaking Glaciar Viedma. The end of the trip is at this point only 25 minutes away.
-
10:30 Landing at the rocky mass in front of Glaciar Viedma. Having disembarked at the natural port, passengers are invited to start a walk on the rock that the backward motion of the glacier has made visible only some years ago. This place with amazing views, is the ideal meeting point for our professional guides to offer relevant comments not only on the area but also about the glaciers.
After the talk, another short walk will let visitors be located right lateral to the glacier and be standing on the promontory serving as base, where the glacier erosion will perfectly be visible. Visitors will also be able to appreciate the ice caves formed in this glacier as in no other of the great glaciers of the national park.
Finally, after having installed the crampons, a two-hour trekking on the Glaciar Viedma will begin.
-
14:15 Departure from the rocky mass, sailing along the front of the glacier where ice pieces fall and lunch on board (service not provided).
Once the ground excursion is accomplished, we will again take our ship to sail along the front of the glacier where we will be able to observe countless shades of blue and maybe the dropping of some glacier pieces.
15:30 Arrival at Túnel bay. Transfer to El Chalten.
