El Chalten has no airport, the nearest one is at El Calafate, 220 km away from El Chalten. Below all the information of El Calafate Airport.

Airport Transfers:
There is no regular transport from El Calafate airport to El Chalten, therefore it is necessary to go to El Calafate and buy a bus ticket to el Chalten. A possibility to take into account, is to hire in advance a transfer (vehicle 4x4) that pick you up at the airport of El Calafate and takes you directly to El Chalten. By paying a plus you have the chance of visiting El Glaciar Perito Moreno and then arrive to El Chalten on the same day.

Residents: around 10 pesos (a passenger)

Remises (call-taxies): around $40 pesos up to 4 passengers (single)

Cruises & Navigation:
There are lake navigation in the Lago Viedma that can be combined with ice trekking; crossing Lago del Desierto on the other side in Punta Norte it is possible to walk for some hours and arrive to the place Candido Mancilla (Chile) where vessels departure to Villa O’Higgings which connects with the Carretera Austral and Coihaike and then arrive to Los Antiguos and route 40 in Argentina. There is only one company that makes both navigations, only in high season from November to March.

Taxis & Transfers 4x4:
At El Chalten there are taxis to go around the town, and they also do interurban trips to Rio Electrico, Hosteria El Pilar, Lago del Desierto. For longer trips is recommended transfers in vehicles 4x4 (private service) to: El Calafate, Cuevas de las Manos, Los Antiguos, all route 40 and also to Torres del Paine and Ushuaia. No doubt that these are the better vehicles for this region, because trips are exhausted due to long distances and route conditions.

Scheduled Transportation:
At El Chalten, there are minibuses that connect El Chalten with Rio Electrico, Hostería El Pilar and Lago del Desierto. Ask in town places of departure, there in no bus station at El Chalten, generally departures are from some Hostel.

At El Chalten there is no bus station, buses and minibuses arrive and depart from different accommodations, according to each company, ask in town in case that changes occur. Some companies are the same that operate in El Calafate, making the following trips: El Calafate, Los Antiguos, Perito Moreno, connections to Puerto Madryn via Comodoro Rivadavia, Rio Gallegos and Bariloche.
