Perito Moreno Full Day
This visit to the Perito Moreno glacier starts in El Calafate, going through route 11, with Lake Argentino on our right and beholding the botanical transition between steppe vegetation to Andean-Patagonian vegetation, made of ?lenga? trees, Antarctic Beech and bright-colored flowers, among which the redness of Embothrium stands out. Already inside the National Park the Glaciers, we will enter long and wide catwalks, arranged in three levels, from where we will be dazzled by the spectacular views of the Perito Moreno Glacier, further enhanced every now and then by the rupture, sometimes significant, of its front wall. At the National Park, you can buy two optional nautical excursions that take you on a tour along the northern wall (MORENO FIESTA) from where you will be able to contemplate the glacier in all its beauty and magnitude. La Leona Petrified Trees
Departing from El Calafate, we turn left at "highway" 40 and drive North. We travel mostly trough open steppe with magnificent views of the lake Argentino, cross mighty Santa Cruz river, coast along the valley of La Leona river and panoramic sight of the Southern Andes and Mount Fitz Roy. We reach La Leona Hotel (hostorical landmark) and stay for 15 minutes. Continue west for other 10 km aong the southern shore of lake Viedma untill we get to Los Hornos hill. Near the top starts a large depression formed by water erosion where most of the fossils can be found. Here our walk starts trough a loose, dry and claylike soil almost saturated with petrified wood that "sprouts" from the soil. Wind and water erosion takes place at a very fast rate, so every season we encounter new surprises. We get to see tree trunks in diameters that range from 0.50 to 1.2 meters, heaps of fossillized broken bones and whole leg bones of large dinosaurs still in the process of identification. After 3 hours of walking about (including the time for lunch)we return to El Calafate the same way with stopover 15 minutes at Hotel La Leona. SEE MORE...

Kayaking in Redonda Bay
Brief kayak sailing around the bay, just 5 minutes far from the city, in which we are going to have a “different” view of the city and its landscapes.
At 9 AM we meet at Patagonia Shop Expediciones store, after meeting each other en dress up with neoprene suits we catch and drive on the Land Rover to the bay trhough the shore road.
At our arrival in the shore we pull down the kayaks, put on the last parts of the gear (spray skirt and el life jacket-safety first -)…and straight to water.
Sometimes the wind push us fast to the middle of the bay, is then when we try to reach a place near of the shore trying to save up energy for the way back. But if the good weather is with us we paddle easily among flamingos, kaikenes and ducks delighting our selves by the town view, now from water.
After all a very relaxing tour at every one’s hands in which we may enjoy of El Calafate from a different angle.
